I found this round to be kind of frustrating, so much so that when I realized I'd made a mistake that I'd need to cut out half the round to correct, I just left it and compensated for it later. Blocked and free from pins!

I don't know how to photograph doilies. Here's me holding it up against the wall?

Anyway.

I can see tension issues and twisted chains and messed up joins, but I'm really happy with this doily!

Finished this a while ago. Just now wove in the ends. It's pretty lumpy, but hard to tell in this photo.

My hand for scale.

Soaked, ready for pins and blocking! I love using my wool quilting mat for blocking. And the yarn gets a lot more vibrant when wet.

I used up all my pins that I could find. There are 600 pins in the doily now!

I didn't have enough to do every picot in the middle rows, but the first and last row picots are all pinned. And most of the ones in the middle. I think I need 100 more, maybe just 50? I do have another box of 200 pins somewhere, I think, but I don't know where it is.

Anyway. Hopefully it lies flat now!

Just barely started the last round and I've already messed up. Not to worry, I am simply going to pretend it's fine.

This last round is going to be a doozy. I'm excited.

There was a 20 hour power outage right after that short 4 hour one, and then I got kinda sick, and my hip is hurt. So for a while, I didn't have light, then doing anything but sleeping was painful. I am nearly back to normal, so it's back to tatting!

Somehow the lighting in this Wendy's is better than in my room.

Anyway.

Partway through round 4 of Renulek's rose #3!

There was a power outage yesterday, so I didn't get much tatting done. Turns out artificial light is necessary for tatting once the sun starts going down.

I also found out I have to position myself strategically when taking photos of tatting now, because the metal shuttles are like mirrors.

Almost done with round 3 of rose 3 by renulek.

I would have finished (ie, enough time and enough yarn) except I had to fix this guy:

Missing a ring! Four rings and four chains back!

I had to cut things off and join two new threads at once (not actually terrible), and everything ended up okay.

Never done a big fix like this before. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Unrelated (kinda related): metal shuttles are awesome but so sharp. Every join gives my finger a new scratch. Very fun.

Round one of rose #3 by Renulek. Looks very nice just on its own.

I have fully converted to unflipped chains, and I'm never looking back.
