“Confused,” Okumura says, crossing her arms, “Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Do you want anything to do with me?”
“No.”
“Then-”
“But Ren does. Sae does too, and I’m fairly certain Ann and Ryuji would like the chance to get to know the real you without the fate of reality looming over our heads.”
Goro’s eyes widen. “Ah. Then I suppose I can’t promise to never talk to any of you again if you don’t mention this?”
“You can run, but I’ll tell them.”
“Please?” Goro asks, pleads, and he hates how his voice sounds so pathetic. “I just want to put everything behind me.”
“Of course you do. But unfortunately, my father is still dead, as well as Futaba’s mother, as well as many many others. So no, you don’t get to just start over. Life isn’t that simple. Believe me Akechi, if we never see each other again, it will be too soon. But you’re going to take responsibility for the mess you made.”
