"Church Folk Fix Reunion
Spokane district churches of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will have a "reunion" beginning to day at Ross Point, the Baptist camp grounds on the Spokane river near Post Falls. Sessions close next Saturday.
"Jesus Christ, Our Heritage and Hope" will be the theme of sessions to be led by Apostle Percy E. Farrow.
Members from churches in Bonners Ferry, Sagle, Vay, Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston, Idaho, and from Pasco, Richland, Walla Walla, Bridgeport, Pullman, Moses Lake and Spokane will attend.
No services will be held in Spokane churches tomorrow because of the reunion."
From the Spokane District "Telegram"
Dear Saints: As each of you are aware, the Reunion dates for this year are July 18 thru July 26th. The Reunion will be held at Ross Point, Idaho. You will find a list of costs, etc., concerning the Reunion, on page 16 of this issue. Please note this and send in your reservation as soon as possible, in order to assure the accommodations that you desire.
Again this year I am anticipating a fine Reunion and solicit your earnest prayers for the success and strength that should come from this type of an experience. With this proper preparation, our blessings will be increased, and so will the inspirational effect that will linger in our lives. Be concerned about this Reunion experience, and carry it on your heart, and in your prayers. The degrees of success attained will depend largely upon you, and your preparation.
There will be a fine group of personnel present for the Reunion. Apostle Percy FARROW, who is the Apostle in charge of this area, will be present. Bishop T. A. BECK and Seventy James DAUGHERTY will also be with us. Brother Raymond HUGGOTT, President of the British Columbia District, will again be on the Staff. This will make up the list of General Church personnel, who will be present to serve you. I'm certain that those men serving as our leaders for the week, will make this a very rich experience for all who attend.
Facilities have been greatly improved at the Reunion grounds, and I'm sure that any needs can be met, as far as physical arrangements are necessary. As you will note from the information sheet, any arrangements that that you might want, have been provided for. The costs are moderate, and certainly as reasonable as could be expected for a weeks experience, such as this promises to be. See you a Reunion. Sincerely, E. Paul CRINZI, District President [Photo from the "Saints' Herald", 15 November 1964, page 23.]
Dear Saints: Word has just been received that the President and Prophet of the Church, Israel A. Smith, has been killed in an automobile accident. The accident occurred while Brother Smith was driving to Lamoni, Iowa. The weather conditions were extremely bad, and Brother Smith was involved in a head-on collision with another car.
We do not want you to be unduly concerned about this as God's ways are higher than ours, and I'm certain God's purposes are not frustrated. I would solicit your thoughts and earnest prayers in this critical period. The leading quorums of the Church will need direction and guidance; your concern, fasting and prayers, will assist these men greatly.
Sincerely, E. Paul CRINZI, District President
[President Smith died in a car accident on June 14, 1958 while driving north along U.S. Highway 69 from Independence, Missouri to Lamoni, Iowa. After his death, the First Presidency continued to function, composed of the two counselors W. Wallace Smith and F. Henry Edwards until a General Conference of the Church confirmed W. Wallace Smith as his brother's successor later that fall. Photo was not with article. See "Israel Alexander Smith" at: http://www.centerplace.org/history/misc/soc/soc69.htm]

Spokane District History, page 26, 1958 - "During the summer of 1958, the Spokane district was divided, with the counties of Douglas, Grant, Franklin, Walla Walla and Benton in Washington, and Umatilla in Oregon, being transferred from the Spokane District to the Central Washington District. This involved the congregations at Bridgeport, Moses Lake, Richland, Pasco, Walla Walla and Hermiston [OR] which are now in the Central Washington District.
The Spokane District congregations now consist of the following branches: Spokane [WA] Southside, Spokane [WA] Audubon Terrace, Sagle [ID], Vay [ID], and Coeur d'Alene [ID]. The missions are: Pullman [WA] and Lewiston [ID], and the Orofino [ID] and Bonners Ferry [ID] groups."
