Dear young people of New York,
You have, as a group, lost the right to bitch and moan about the following:
- Congress - The Democrats - the DNC - The System - your neighborhood/town/city - funding for anything in your neighborhood/town/city - the falafel stink that permeates the city in summer - the garbage that is everywhere and mingles with the falafel stink - dog poop - noise levels - the environment as it pertains to your neighborhood/town/city - the economy - Comic Con - Captain America’s allegiance - Batman/Superman - the subway
Today is a federal primary election. You had the chance to vote to choose your party’s nominee to represent your district - the most representative of our democracy.
I am working the polls today. I am working in a precinct with many young voters. Two of you showed up. The median age of voters in today’s primary is 192.*
My district happened to have a fairly important choice between a Representative Jerry Nadler, the only Jewish member of the House to support the Iran deal, and Oliver Rosenberg, who is running on the platform of “Nadler is a self-hating Jew and wants you all to die.”
IF YOU WANT CHANGE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, YOUR TOWN, YOUR CITY, YOUR STATE, AND YOUR COUNTRY, YOU HAVE TO SHOW THE FUCK UP. THE POLLS ARE OPEN EARLY AND CLOSE LATE. IT IS SUMMER. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR NOT VOTING.
So, well done, young people. Your solidarity with the young people of the UK who also didn’t get off their asses/arses to vote is commendable.
