send me ✖ for a random kiss.
one year without him and she still feels sad without his touch, his warmth, his affection. who knew that her first boyfriend could affect her so much. christmas was never a good time for singles. couples would flaunt their love right in front of her while her main comfort was a bottle of soju and her dog. friends were always nice but they never held the same affection as a significant other did.
she stared at the countless couples, men with girls attached to their hips and girls with handsome arm candy walking around the party while she leaned against the wall with a glass of wine in a deep red dress. she hated watching people kiss under the mistletoe and display their affection for each other. hyelim honestly wanted to escape when a familiar form hugged her from behind and left her with a grin on her face.
when she turned her head, she was met with the familiar smile of her best friend, byunghun. his blue locks reminded her of her old mermaid hair that she had swapped for a short brown bob this time. his grin never failed to make one appear on her own face but this one had a bit of playfulness behind it, a childlike glint in his eye told her that he was up to no good. it all came together when he lifted the iconic green plant between them.
i was tired of seeing you so lonely. you deserve some love, too. the words rung in her head for a minute that she didn’t even notice him press his lips against her own, leaving her breathless. his lips tasted of peppermint and his cologne seemed to mingle with it perfectly as her alcohol soaked lips pressed against his. they were lucky that the two of them were in a private part of the party or else she would have pulled away.
it seemed to have gone on longer than the two had expected when she saw his slightly swollen lips and slightly rough hair. she couldn’t even remember running her fingers through his hair but apparently she had. with a clear of her throat, she straightened her dress and tried to calm her racing heart. there was so much adrenaline pumping through her that she thought her heart would give out but she simply smiled and chuckled. “that was unexpected.” all she was met with was a knowing smile from her friend.
over the course of the evening, hyelim found herself being stolen from the holiday party to unconventional areas for more breathless kisses. each one getting more steamy and she could have sworn she could taste more alcohol on him with each one but she didn’t care to say anything. however, when he suddenly disappeared she found herself searching for him even when others were trying to chat with her.
she had found him sitting by himself, downing a glass of champagne and she wondered if the holidays were just as hard for him as it was for her. either way, it was her turn to be the playful one in their game. mistletoe in hand, she walked behind him and grabbed his hand. “come on, it’s my turn.” she whispered into his ear, pulling him along into a closet when nobody was looking.
he had seemed confused until she held up the familiar grin plant he had been using all evening. this time she opted for a more gentle kiss, pecking his lips a few times before pressing anything more passionate on him. part of her wondered if the alcohol had anything to do with their desire to kiss each other that evening but she didn’t care. all that mattered was her lips against his own and it didn’t just end at those few kisses. multiple kisses ensued, leaving her hair ruffled and lipstick stained onto his lips but when the two of them burst into laughter, everything felt better.
