Your asks inspire me, mutual.
Maybe I'm overreacting.
But I really, REALLY find it VERY icky that the word "primal" has been used when referring to Heathcliff/his relationship with Catherine.
It doesn't make it better that you made him white, Emerald Fennell. The microaggression is still there.
Can we talk about Stephanie knowing her entire life that there’s someone out there who dedicated their life to helping people, & still failed to save her? When she was just another faceless kid, but also when he personally knew her, again and again?
Sigh. Men.

In the immediate aftermath of the sabotage, the glimpse into Shuu's thoughts is oddly level-headed, for a character that's been built up (and shown!!) as an uncompromising perfectionist for the whole story. Actually, this is such an odd turn for him that even Nazuna doesn't expect it. He assumes Shuu would be furious if Nazuna were to move to do anything.
Instead, Shuu all but repeats Nazuna's earlier (admittedly cynical) internal assessment: they cannot save this performance and it's Shuu's fault that Valkyrie lacks that kind of adaptability. He acknowledges with no particular fuss that it's because of his own tunnel vision that they can't attain that perfection he wanted. He joins Mika and Nazuna in their improvised, unfiltered and imperfect conclusion of the performance, even if it's the furthest thing from his vision.
Despite all the energy and effor they put in, in the end, Shuu is entirely willing to accept losing.

In Stand By Me (still in Marionette), Shuu tells Kurou that he believes the world is fundamentally good and just; that if one just works hard and is a good person, then they will surely be rewarded. And if this isn't true, then nothing is. Valkyrie's hard work is ultimately NOT rewarded, and Shuu finds his explanation in the fact that he hasn't been a good person. In that moment, as Shuu judges it to be, Valkyrie cannot win, because the way Shuu went about attaining his results, was cruel and unjust against Mika and Nazuna, who have been stunted because of his overbearing behaviour. Thus, it lines up entirely with what he believes.
The world is good and just. You need only work hard and be good to see it all pay off. If this isn't true, nothing is.

The catalyst comes after Valkyrie's performance has ended. Tenshouin's words clue Shuu in on the fact Valkyrie were set up to fail, and that they followed fine's plan every step of the way. In one quick interaction, that series of events doesn't make sense anymore. The wrongdoer wasn't Shuu and the wrongdoer will not face justice.
Tenshouin presumably didn't say anything of the sabotage. Bar for Nazuna quietly joining the Broadcasting Committee and Wataru alluding that it may not have been an accident, both after the fact, nobody called the event into question, nobody advocated for Valkyrie. For all Shuu knows in that moment, it really was just an unfortunately timed failure from the equipment. If anything, it seems as though fate itself is bending to benefit fine and facilitate their unjust victory.
It's no longer a matter of Shuu's hubris costing Valkyrie their victory, nor of their efforts going unrewarded. They're being punished, instead, for the benefit of a malicious actor. The world has rewarded the underhanded aggression of fine. There is nothing that's true.
He's still definitely overreacting to an absurd degree (even accounting for his being a terribly mentally ill high schooler who was already winding himself up and wearing himself thin under the pressure of preparing for the Dream Fest), but it's deeper than him breaking down just over a single failure.
