lorraine squinted in thought as she tried to make sense of his words in her mind. it only took a moment but it caused her to think, and the more thinking that she did she began to realise that he did have a point. even if she didn't want to admit it even to herself. some religions could be more overbearing and mighty than others. but it also depended on the person. not everybody that had faith in a particular religion was self-righteous. she could at least be sure of that.

the clairvoyant tilted her head curiously, brows just barely raised to indicate interest in what he'd said, "and what religion would that be exactly?" she paused for a moment, fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress as she thought out her words with care, "because i'm sure you understand that even if a religion is very strict and perhaps .. to a degree .. influences self-righteousness, it doesn't mean that everybody that follows that religion is like that." though, she couldn't help but wonder if he was talking about her in particular, or if he just genuinely wanted to bring it up to her as a discussion.

What an awfully loaded question. They sit across one another at the beaten wooden table of the diner, chicken scratch graffito carved into its surface that Athena finds herself tracing over with her fingertips. Wondering if it exists in this form in other time, another universe. It is only when he asks his question do her movements stop, and she lifts her head to lock eyes with him. It is with a piercing silence that she observes him for a moment, pondering if the question is not so much directed at her as it is at himself.

his  eyes  case  her  from  his  peripheral  vision.  he  has  no  issue  with  candidness  -  just,  coming  from  him,  it  tends  to  come  off  more  as  him  being  a  prick.

to  him,  that  just  sounds  like  a  really  good  way  to  get  a  head  start  on  resentment.  he  should  know  -  he's  been  fending  off  the  beginnings  of  it  for  years.  "why  you  choosing  to  be  a  doormat?"  it's  then  that  he  looks  at  her,  actually,  three-fourths  view  of  his  face;  quizzical.

“ Why would I lie to you? ” There were so many reasons why he would try and deceive her, but that was not something that he wanted her to know. She was far more valuable if she did not know, or had no idea who he was exactly. Most of the people that he would meet randomly, Jung-hoo would make it seem that he was there to help them. That was the bonus, that was not what he cared about, what he cared about was what made it worth it for him. She would be able to get information easily, without causing much alarm. And that was all he cared for. “ I just need you to do this thing, do you not want to? I will pay you? ” He always paid them, but what it took for them to get the information was not something that he would worry about.
