from /r/vexillology Top comment: It was considered essential to use ratios, colours and an emblem that wouldn’t look out of place amongst the flags of modern nations but also wouldn’t look out of place had it been seen and used in antiquity by the earliest human civilisations. Working on a 1:2 ratio, both the simplest and one of the most commonly used ratios for national flags, the Flag of Stomaria consists of three vertical bands with the central band being exactly twice the size of the two outer bands, creating a centralised square with sides of equal length. The two outside bands are coloured blue (Hex #0039A6) in order to convey strength and the central band is coloured white (Hex #ffffff) in order to convey goodness. The eight-pointed Star of Stomaria symbolises new beginnings with early depictions of eight-pointed stars in ancient Sumer, the cradle of human civilisation, further emphasising such symbolism. Its position on the central band allows it to be centred within either a perfect square or circle when required and is also coloured blue (Hex #0039A6).
