You do NOT need to match my reply lengths! Please do not feel any sort of pressure to do so. Write whatever you wish, be it ten words or a thousand.
I have been a fantasy writer for over a decade now. My specialty is epic fantasy (think Game of Thrones length books, 800-1K pages or so) set in worlds of my creation. Writing like that requires a lot of description, as I am dealing with people, places, animals, races, items, magic, etc. that I have created myself, so unless I explain them sufficiently, the reader may be left confused. So for a long time now I have been cultivating a very verbose, descriptive style. In addition to that, I tend to write very heavily skewed toward character development (especially emotional development) as the focus of a lot of my stories. Because of this, my characters tend to have a constant internal dialog going on that I often intersperse into my narrative prose. Beyond that, certain threads just inspire me at times to write more or I find myself going into detail about something that suddenly interests me, and if I’m being honest, I LOVE to write. Long passages come very easily to me, typos and all, haha.
This is my personal style as a writer who is now venturing into the world of Tumblr rping. It is not everyone’s style. That’s okay. =)
If I write ten long paragraphs and you want to write two sentences in reply, go right ahead! I know that many rpers on Tumblr do prefer to write very short replies or that writing may be difficult for them due to language barriers or certain learning disorders. I absolutely understand, and I would hate to think that my long-winded style was forcing any of my rp partners to feel compelled to match my length. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading long replies and if the spirit moves you, please know that I read every word. =) But... they are not necessary and I am not disappointed, mad, or rendered uninterested when I see a short reply. It’s all good, people. Really. ;)
The point is to have fun, so have fun! Whatever relaxes you, is fun for you, and works for you... is what I want you to write. =)
Write on, Tumblr. Do your thing. XD
