POST-TROS VILLAIN
Working with the mess that TRoS left us with, I’ve come up with an idea of how Darth Plagueis can return and become the new villain. Subtle retconning to follow...
When Palpatine killed Darth Plagueis, he initially believed that he had triumphed over his master and proven himself to be more powerful. However, Plagueis hadn’t shared all of his knowledge with his apprentice and had a way of restoring his own life. The transference of ones essence into a cloned body was actually Plagueis’ brainchild. Unfortunately for him, Palpatine discovered his plan and was able to find and destroy his former masters cloned body. Plagueis was left in a state of limbo, neither truly alive nor truly dead. After Palpatine’s death at the end of TRoS, Plagueis was finally able to return to the living world by transferring his essence into one of the few remaining Snoke clones. He was only able to do so because Snoke was made with Plagueis’ DNA, making the cloned body compatible with his essence. Palpatine wanted to ensure that his new puppet, Snoke, was strong in the force so he had his scientists create a clone using DNA from his former master. Palpatine considered it the ultimate irony that his former masters DNA was used to create his new minion. Because the DNA sequences from Plagueis’ remains were incomplete, the scientists chose to fill the gaps with human DNA which gave Snoke a slightly more human appearance than the original Plagueis. Plagueis, in the body of a Snoke clone, becomes the new post-TRoS villain. He may look and sound like Snoke but he’s an entirely different being.
