sarahmgellar: I don’t often put pictures of my kids on here, but last night was truly special. Thank you to the incredible @taylorswift for being so kind to Charlotte. She was so in awe, she could barely speak. Thank you for being the kind of role model young girls need to see. And to Taylor’s Mom Andrea, thank you for being so welcoming. Oh and did I mention how awesome the show was?!? I can’t believe Taylor sang 26 songs, each one better than the next!! A truly #gorgeous show!! (I definitely won big Mom points last night)
Taylor, you don’t know me, but we grew up together...
From hearing Tim McGraw on the way to my first day of high school, to listening to Never Grow Up in my new apartment in a big city after my parents dropped me off for college, to hearing Look What You Made Me Do for the first time as a 25 year old struggling with what to do next and when I needed you back the most. You may not know me, but you’ve always been there for me.
I could go on for days about how much I love you and how much you mean to me, but I really want to take the time to thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I’m a better person for growing up with you and I wouldn’t be who I am without you. I’ve been blown away by and grateful for each era, but this one especially. This time last year, I wasn’t completely out. This time last year, I thought I’d never be able to tell my family I’d been sexually assaulted. This time last year I struggled to believe that I would be believed, accepted, or honestly loved. There were so many things I thought I’d never be able to do or face, but if this era has taught me anything it’s that I can. This era showed me I could be comfortable with myself. This era taught me that I could learn how to not be ashamed of things that have happened to me and I had no control over. This era proved that I could love myself for who I am and to stop making excuses for why I couldn’t. This era changed everything for me.
I’m out, I’ve been believed, and I’m finally being accepted for who I am. For the first time in a long time, I dreaming impossible dreams and doing better than I ever was. I’ll never have the words to properly thank you for that!
So, here’s to many more years of growing up together. Here’s to holding on to memories. Here’s to dreaming impossible dreams. I can’t wait to dance all night with my two best friends in Nashville next week!
