Good morning. Due to Alabama's draconian laws I've been kept from voting until right now, but its ok. Here I stand. In line, a blue dot in a sea of red—deluded, backward, and bound by illiteracy. That doesn't matter though, It cannot matter. Because today, I will cast my vote, a singular act of defiance in the name of progress. I will vote for a future written on the right side of history.

I will fulfill a civic duty to a nation that has too often failed to uphold its duty to me, my kinfolk, my skinfolk. A vote for a nation whose might lies in building industries that fuel both conflict and relief, a country that profits from the pain it professes to ease. Yet, even aware of this cycle, I cast my vote for a better future, believing that hope is only ever kept alive when it’s nourished by the actions of those unafraid to fight for the change they may never personally see.

At 40% turnout, you hand them victory. At 70%, we win everything: healthcare, gun laws, abortion rights, and more. But if you sit this out, you’ll watch them build a dystopia where the president rules like a king, women’s bodies are controlled, LGBTQ people are crushed, and the homeless and trans are thrown in camps.

You might think I’m exaggerating, that this is all just fear-mongering—but they’ve told us, over and over, exactly who they are and what they want to do. Believe them.

The trumpets have sounded—VOTE accordingly, or watch them drag us all into what will be their heaven but our hell.
