I'm trying to find a post-war, soulmates fic where Harry rejects Draco's attempt at apologizing after his trial and Draco immediately finds out that he was his soulmate via a cut red string. It's a death sentence but Draco doesn't want to interfere with Harry's life, and so vows to suffer alone and never tell him. Draco works with letters and has a boss who dislikes him. He starts getting sicker and sicker, as magic starts hurting him, but later makes friends with the trio (Ron and Hermione first cuz they feel sorry for him and then genuinely). He and Harry become really close as he deteriorates, with Harry inviting Draco to live with him so he could take care of him. But Draco still refuses to tell him until he is almost at death's door, then they have an emotional reconciliation scene in bed when the truth comes out.
I think the whole thing was written a long time ago and totals to less than 20k words, but I'm not sure.
