you should rec me one yuri anime to help me stop being so fucking upset over jkr's interview. also here is that video i was talking about requiringlegwork tumblr com/post/75022965495
AOI HANA!!!! It’s really realistic and slice of life and has some pretty brutal breakups, so actually it might be kind of a downer, but it’s gorgeous and the ending is cute.
The Revolutionary Girl Utena Movie, Adolescence of Utena, is a total mindfuck but I love it and can qualify as the most cracked out yuri of all time. If you don’t watch it on your own I might expose you to it sometime just to see the look on your face. The show itself is yuri too, though w/o makeouts because of conflict behind the scenes. :(
Yuri isn’t the main focus of Moretsu Pirates, but there is both strong subtext between the leads (fingers crossed they become canon in the movie) and a canon lesbian couple who are awesome and it’s a really fun anime about lady space pirates and it’s on crunchyroll, highly recced. Simoun is also a yuri AND deals with gender fluidity/ trans issues (it’s set in a world where everyone has boobs and vagina till they’re seventeen and then the go to this spring and choose whether to be a boy or a girl. Some don’t want to choose. Before you go to the spring, you get to pilot mechas because that’s…how it works…anyway, though it’s very interesting and does quality character development, it’s also really slow-paced and melancholy, especially at first, so there’s that)
(Inari Kon Kon isn’t a yuri either but it’s so cute so far and the queer girl on it is so cute! Also there’s certain episodes of Sailor Moon that focuse canon yuri goodness, just throwing that out there.)
Apparently Blue Drop (sci-fi yuri), Maria Sama something something and Onii-sama E are all pretty good, but I haven’t watched them yet. If you want manga, here’s a bunch of lists of quality yuri right here.
thanks so much for the link! I’ll watch it right away.
Edit (I...didn't see you said one...clearly. oh well. )
