I'm so insecure about rereading books in public because people are always looking at me knowingly and I'm just like "I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT I'VE ALREADY READ THIS STFU"
Rereader
I received a book in the mail today, one I’ve previously read.
I don’t know what makes someone a rereader but it seems the concept of rereading is one either embraced or met with deep consternation and, often, vociferous protests, because unless it makes sense to you, it makes absolutely no sense.
I pulled the book from its packaging, felt something like a confirming sigh move through me—yes, this is the book from before. Not that that was in question—I knew what I was ordering—but more that I was a mere cover-flip away from going back to a place I’d once been to see if there was anything else there for me.
Rereading Books?!
I love what reading does for me. It transports me to another world, educates me on others and history and art and everything in between. I also love coming back to stories I’ve read before like Harry Potter (duh). Which is why I’m always so surprised when I get criticized for rereading my favorite books. “Oh my god, you’ve read that book a million times! What’s the point in reading it again? You already know what happens,” says a rude ignorant person. Well let’s see I love the world, the characters, the writing, and I love the story. Why wouldn’t I want to experience what that book has to offer more then once. Why do you eat ice cream when you’ve already tasted it before? Because it’s good and you know you like it. Rereading books is the same thing.
