Donations needed for rescue chickens surgeries
As many of you who follow me here know, I have rescue chickens and mice at my microsanctuary. Two have had life saving surgery, and another are in desperate need of it. My bank account is so low due to two chicken surgeries in the last year on top of many vet bills for my rescue mice, and I would appreciate any help in getting these girls the help they need.

Sage and Basil are nearly 3-year-old hens, and a very important part of my family. They both saw their exotic vet recently as they have not been feeling their best and have both been diagnosed with cancer. Sage has an exploratory surgery booked for Friday, April 29, that will hopefully turn into surgery to remove her cancer and save her life if it is operable. Unfortunately, Basil feels much worse than her friend Sage and has a painful, hard abdomen which may mean surgery is not a great option for her. However, I want to give her the best chance I can, and if she perks up after her pain medication and antibiotics, I would love to attempt surgery to save her life. These surgeries are expensive at $1300-$1700 each, but they are life-saving and deserved by Sage and Basil.
I have already paid for two of my hens to have this life-saving surgery where their cancers or health concerns were fixed, and they were spayed to prevent any more egg complications. Unfortunately, high-production breeds like my girls produce far more eggs than their bodies can handle, leading to many issues such as reproductive cancers and internal laying. This surgery will allow these girls, who are still so young at less than three years old, to hopefully live out their natural lifespan of 10-15 years old. Without these surgeries, Sage and Basil will die just like their flockmates Ginger and Daisy would have without their surgeries.
These girls have been through so much in life, from starting life on a factory farm and escaping the massive fire that burned the farm down. Sage came to me with burns on her comb and face, and they were all malnourished and terrified. Yet, they have all blossomed into sweet, friendly chickens who are so happy to be here, and they mean the world to me. They deserve the medical care that will allow them to live the rest of their lives in peace, and I would like to give that to them. These girls mean the world to me, and I would be so appreciative of any help in saving their lives.
