Reservation Boy, by Buddy Red Bow (1948-1993). Life is amazing. In the 1980s I hung out with Buddy at Durese Holt's place in Rapid City, SD, and I loved it when he would start strumming and singing, though I've never been a huge fan of the country genre in general; he was a special talent. Three days ago, my great-great nephew Phoenix Angel Norquist was born in Mesa, Arizona on my great-niece Kaylie's 20th birthday. Buddy and Jimi Hendrix became the first two members of the Native American Music Hall of Fame in 1998. Buddy was Phoenix Angel Norquist's great-great grandfather; my sister Deb, like me half-Irish on our mom's side, is his great-grandma, and it is her birthday today, March 17. My daughter, her children and grandchild have all spent their lives to date on the same Lakota reservation where Buddy is now buried. I have my headphones on now, and once again, I'm going to listen to Buddy Red Bow strum and sing...
