Roisin had taken a few steps away from him, humming as she looked-over the nearby landscape. This time of day was always her favorite, with the suns light turning everything everything around them into gold. But the feelings it brought her paled compared with when she was with her Salvatore- not that she would admit it so openly.
It was easy to loose track of time in this village, it must have been a few years at least since she had come. She still searched for her sister as much as she could, but his sweet advances pulled on her heart so tenderly that she could no longer ignore the inevitable:
She loved Salvatore Moreau.
He had been even more affectionate in the weeks after his procedure- stealing kisses, holding her close behind closed doors. As much as Roisin was wary of Miranda, she felt as though she owed her a great debt for the freedom and joy she had brought Moreau. It was wonderful to see.
Roisin turned to make a remark on their surroundings, only for the words to be stolen from her throat as her mind stopped in its tracks. Salvatore was on his bended knee, holding a ring. His face was so earnest and loving, and hot tears flashed to her eyes before she could stop them.
His voice was breathless and quiet, and tears fell carelessly from her eyelashes. She didn't let him finish whatever it was that he had planned, her heart was full to bursting and she couldn't handle it if he spoke another word- she was sure of it. Instead, Roisin threw her arms around him, trembling arms wrapping him in a tight hug as she cried.
Roisin, who hated any romantic intent, who swore to never be married- she would have him. She would have him- as soon as she could speak again, she would tell him.
She pulled back as he began to cough... maybe she had been holding him a bit too harshly after all. However her smile quickly fell as she realized that it had gotten worse.
She put a hand on his chest, only to quickly pull it back again as a knot settled in her stomach. It felt like something was... moving under his skin. She screamed as he fell to the ground, body twisting and convulsing, groaning in pain.
"Help- someone help him!"
Roisin pulled him close, calling his name as she cried hysterically. She felt as though she was going to be sick as she watched his flesh continue to contort and expand into a monstrous form. Her legs were frozen in fear by the time it had stopped, even as she attempted to scuttle back from the monster that stood in front of her.
Her throat was dry as her body shook with fear.
Miranda. This had to be Miranda's doing.
The fear, confusion, shock, and the loss in her heart were quickly replaced by a white-hot burning rage at she was hit with that sudden realization. She had to find Miranda- she needed to know what that bitch had done.
Roisin finally managed to find her footing as she took off running down the dirt road towards the town. Her vision blurred as she clutched the ring so tightly that it cut into her palm, leaving a trail of blood back to the place she had lost her heart.
