So, I finally watched TMNT Bayverse.

Disclaimer: Everyone has their own preferences and opinions. I am not bashing the show or any of the cast.

I love Donnie. Period.

Splinter once again claimed my heart as a Good Dad. He watched Mr. O'Neil and decided to love the turtles just as the man did his daughter. And he learned ninjutsu because he wanted to teach his sons self-defense to protect themselves. Also, his worst punishment for the boys? Hilarious. 🤣

Megan Fox as April is, uuhhh...... I have nothing against the actress herself, but in this movie she showed literally 2 (two) expressions. Two Expressions. Regardless of what's happening.

I love how she was tied to the turtles and Splinter (them being her pet in name and her saving them from the lab fire), but I feel that she brought them more disasters than good things, and a lot of her actions feel... for lack of better word, stupid. Announcing to her fellow journalists that she has hot news about vigilantes protecting NY without any solid proof. Trying to convince her superintendent that the vigilantes are the pet turtles of her childhood. Girl, no wonder they kicked you out.

Also, I can forgive her unknowingly leading the Foot to them, but her baiting the Shredder with the mutagen, which led the turtles to having to save her, feels a poorly-thought-out action.

TL;DR: Not really satisfied with the April. And the movie is centered on her.

It's good that the titular brothers were so entertaining to watch

THE ELEVATOR SCENE. Probably my favorite scene in the entire movie despite only lasting 10 seconds at most. The collective dubstepping aside, notice the stealth humor they inserted on the signage

Started reading Guardians of Ga'hoole, and definitely didn't expect it to get quite dark so fast. There was ATTEMPTED FRATRICIDE and a BRAINWASHING CULT and it hasn't even been 50 pages!!

Watched S03E01 Within the Woods. I missed my bois; it's good to see them again :')

Leonardo got-beaten-up-and-just-woke-up-from-3-month-long-coma Splinterson got tossed around and had to fight a giant tree man BY HIMSELF, when even moving made him hiss in pain. The showrunners didn't cut him any slack (T_T) Give my boy a break!!

Leo: Donnie, you and Mikey go that way. April and Casey go that way. Donnie: You mean April and Casey are going alone... TOGETHER?!! 😂😂😂

I'm reminded time and time again that April is such a badass, and it's such a shame that the showrunners seemed to prefer forgetting about that and making her a damsel in distress :(

It's nice that nobody teased Raph for his brief time as a plant doggie

Sooo... I started watching Tales of the TMNT. Impressions from ep 1:

Love the art style; it's so... "sketchy" and artsy, like a comic book made directly into animation. My eyes are very pleased to look at it

The boys are so... dorky?? I'm saying this in the most affectionate way possible. They're babies!!

When one has become so used to seeing the Rise turtles use mystic powers, an acclimation is needed when watching the iteration where they don't. I kept expecting Leo to bust out a portal lmao

Same goes for April. I kept expecting her to whip out a baseball bat and jump into the fight screaming "APRIL O'NEEEEIIIILLLL!!!" (She whipped out a fire axe in this one, which is close enough)

So far it's fun! And funny! And it's got a hook right at the start with the immediate appearance of Bishop

The highlight of the ep, though, is THIS

WORD. FOR. WORD

I screamed. SIR, I did not expect you to whip this out as early as EPISODE ONE. HOW AM I GOING TO RECOVER

I'm glad that here in TotTMNT, April knocked sense into him immediately. I feel that Rise!Leo never got that needed talk, just like a lot of Rise boys' issues never got to be addressed or resolved (no thanks to Nick cancelling the show...)

Just finished watching Tales of the TMNT episode 4. Thoughts:

Raph and Donnie are so roughened up, especially Raph T_T But because this is "kids show" I don't expect it to get brought up, like, ever...

Michelangelo made plans and took responsibility. Raphael made (bad) jokes. Donatello went ham. Love how each bro imitated or took the advice of another bro in dealing with their situation. (Also, can't help but think that Rise!Leo would be proud of baby Raph's jokes lmao)

Episode 2 to 4 have really good actions!

But I can't really shake the feeling that they often... talk too much? Like, they can say something with just three words, but they do it with twelve? They kept explaining what they were doing or thinking even in the middle of a tense situation (this is most prominent in Donnie's episode), and there were moments, in the middle of a fight or a chase, where a character paused to ramble or banter. It makes the dialogue and the flow of the action feel clunky and unnatural, even though there are really good actions. I know the intended audience is kids, but I don't think kids are that... dense?

The almost-blind train conductor in episode 4 is my favorite side chara. Old guy took all the weirdness in stride, like a champ

The Purple Dragons appeared! So were Hun, Angel, and Kitsune - names I only knew in passing from the numerous fics I read, but never knew the characters. Kitsune's design and vibe reminded me of Big Mama

The cops in episode 4 were the most aggravating character to ever appear, honestly. Them straight-out ignoring Donnie's plea for help is their biggest offense

Got so upset at the destroying-Antarctica-and-most-likely-the-entire-ocean-ecosystem-for-the-sake-of-humanity that I was close to tears. But then we were back to Rocky and Grace conversing and it was so wholesome that the upset just faded.

Am watching tmnt 2012, and i have a lot to say about it (all good things) but first of all: Raph running to catch Leo when the enemy threw him off 😭 He didn't pause to think or hesitate, he just did. I'm chewing bricks
