The Antiquarium in the Munich Residenz, the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs in Munich, Germany. It is the oldest room in the Residenz and the largest Renaissance hall north of the Alps.
Originally built between 1568 and 1571 to house Duke Albert V's collection of ancient sculptures, it was later transformed into a hall for festivities and banquets.
The hall is 66 meters long and features abundant decorations with grotesques and 102 views of towns, markets, and palaces in what was then the Duchy of Bavaria.
The Residenz is Germany's largest city palace and is open to visitors as a museum complex.
