ANNABETH felt her breath hitch in her throat, unable to process percy's words for a brief moment. ❛❛ percy, that's . . . ❜❜ it was a sure sign of strong emotions when annabeth used his real name instead of the nickname she'd bestowed upon him a while back and she felt her cheeks flush slightly. it was flattering to hear, but also partially concerning given what she knew about the great prophecy. the son of poseidon had come to mean a lot to her and she didn't want to see any harm come to him, especially on her account. ❛❛ that's sweet but also stupid. you can't just put me above everything else, especially in dire situations. ❜❜ ( @resistgods )

blinks in surprise at the words, lips parted.   there's still blood trickling down corner of her mouth from a well - timed suckerpunch she should have been able to avoid.    (    her father's going to be disgusted with her lack of spacial awareness.   )     "   of course i did.   "     she croaks out,  voice coming out much smaller & sadder then anticipated.  jamie stayed when the others took off.  why would she not believe in her ?  she knows how much a family means to her . . . and she got one.   with luke.    "   i kept waiting for you to come back.   "       she's come back more then once during the other seasons.  autumn, winter, spring, dragged herself out here to long island hoping she changed her mind.    lowers herself so she's level with her on decrepit cabin floor,  brows knit together with concern as she looks her over for any injuries.   she doesn't want to leave her here.     "   can you look at me, please ?  "       wants the other to see her answer.  she gently reaches out and links their fingers like she'd done last summer.    “   i never stopped believing in you.   ”

 ❛❛ ISN'T always a little extreme ? ❜❜ the brunette teased, feeling her cheeks flush at his words. the response followed their usual playful banter but given what he'd just confessed, it felt like an entirely different ballgame. ❛❛ we were practically kids when we first met. ❜❜ she remembered that day fondly, but didn't know then that he'd come to mean so much to her. there had always been something there but it was the first time they'd really openly admitted to it being more than platonic and it felt like a long time coming.  ❛❛ but i do like where this is going. . . ❜❜ arms moved to wrap around his neck and she smiled up at him softly.
