Timers, devices implanted in to people’s wrists that countdown until the day a person meets their soul mate, came out to a lovelorn public when Maka Albarn was a young girl. Excited to meet her soulmate, the one she is going to spend the rest of her life with, she obtains one as soon she turns of age. But after ten years with a blank Timer, Maka begins to lose hope.
with an equal split of humorous and poignant instances, this fic complicates the idea of soulmates being a fix-all, even while it plays the trope to the hilt. both artists provided interesting interpretations of the hourglass motif, one showing the good of it and the other showing the bad.
