Hello. I stumbled across this blog and I want to say thank you. I'm unfortunately obese, and while I'll try not to dump all this stuff on you, my unhealthy habits led to me nearly dying from pancreatitis (my pancreas was on the verge of dying when I was rushed in for reference) and also crossing into the T2 diabetic threshold without knowing. That was last year.
Since then, I tried to turn my life around the best I could. Emotional eating/food addiction in general sucks. It was hard trying to learn so much about whole foods and calorie counting, but I do my best. Also got in the habit of walking at least 1 hour a day too.
I'm happy to say that now, I got my A1C from severe levels (13.3) into prediabetic levels (6.0) and still going. My triglycerides are much lower than when I was first in the ICU (2,990 to now 200). I didn't need a feeding tube in my small intestine anymore. My pancreas has made a full recovery but will never quite be the same again.
Due to my pancreas, I was told I could never ever use things like Ozempic because I'd be in the hospital again. While that frustrated me, doing things the "old-fashioned" way is teaching me discipline and every day gets easier. Still in the obese category, but the work will eventually pay off even more (30 pounds lost so far). I wouldn't wish my previous issues on my worst enemy. If this happens again when I'm older? That's it. No more chances. Thank you for reading and don't let people get to you.
Damn hun I'm sorry that you have gone through this. I'm happy that you are trying to get better, and not give up on yourself. Congratulations! on getting your counts down! I know doing that alone is a pain in the ass!
I 100% agree with you on the learning curve about whole foods and calorie counting. It can be intimidating, but luckily gets easier with repetition. Plus side is that there are way more recipes out there and certain foods that are easier to get. Especially if you have food allergies!
Woot woot! That's awesome possum that you lost 30 lbs!
Keep to your goals and don't be hard on yourself if you fail/stagnate. Because those damn cross roads come so freaking often! Just brush yourself off and go at it again.
I wish you the most and best on your journey along with succession!
*will put fatphobia tag, so others can see this. Because you are inspirational!
