Haters gonna hate, right? You know the meme. We repeat it over & over as if it were inevitable, as if it were immutable, and as if there were nothing we could do about it.

I take issue with that last one.

I think we can make it an unpopular option. I think we can make it backfire.

Imagine if every time some troll showed up to your page with a bellyful of vitriol to vent they got drowned out under a barrage of anonymous compliments. How long do you suppose the trollswould keep trying it for, if every time they made an attempt their target was reminded how brilliant they are by their loyal followers? Here's what I want you to do: You see somebody getting hate-anons, you tell them why you follow their feed, or something else that you admire about them. Do it over several messages, and alert your followers that somebody brilliant is having hater-trouble. Somebody on your feed mentions haters causing strife, you go add some compliments to the target's page. Lets see if we can't fix this.
