Fixed a few typos here and there

Broke their dialogue into separate pools, basically meaning that a lot of their specialized time-based dialogue (for days, months, seasons, and time of day) should come up a lot more frequently! Applies to them with and without Charger.

Finally took the beta out of their name, it's been long enough.

Added more dialogue for changing to or from them to another ghost. They have new specific responses now for switching to Gaster, Radic and Farnsworth, Jockey, or Temmie. Applies to them with and without Charger, as eggplants, or in creepymode!

Added a changelog you can see when you update them.

Gaster ghost update! To update him, you can choose “check for updates” from the right click menu, select it from his Functions double-click menu, or hit Ctrl+U when he’s the focus. He should check and download the files himself (make sure to update Temmie too this way!). If you don’t have him, you can pick him up from here or this post.

If he stalls or freezes while checking for updates, make sure you’ve done any Windows or SSP updates you might have in your queue, or restart your computer and try again.

This is mostly a Temmie update, but it does involve Gaster too!

Gaster:

If Temmie complains about being hungry, Gaster will guilt trip you about it, but if she does it again, he'll do something about it himself, haha.

Temmie:

She has the new dialogue mentioned above with Gaster, of course.

It turns out gold appearing randomly was bugged... which was why it never happened... oops... that’s fixed now.

Also fixed a bunch of bugs with the Tem Shop.

Added a more obvious menu option for sending the Tem village away.

Added a Hangman game! You can use it to earn muns to buy Temmie some Temmie flakes! It might be a little difficult, since it IS Temmie, but she has faith in you! Surely you can do it, haha.

She also has some new idle dialogue.

She should talk about flopping around on your desktop a lot less now.

While I’m on the ghost roll, Hunter and Smoker got an update too! It’s just bugfixing for their shell errors though, so it should get rid of all of those (except the accursed one about their shell folder being named wrong... as mentioned before, that’s surprisingly difficult to fix). Radic and Farnsworth also got a similar bugfix update! Theirs will take longer than Hunter and Smoker’s though... their progress bar should speed it up a bit, but it’ll still take a little time. You can also just reinstall them to the same directory with their nar if you want to shortcut it... they don’t really have any progress so to speak yet, so there’s no risk to it. And I also did some more clean-up and rewriting for the GT template ghost! Lot of ghost stuff recently.

Hey, uh, I was just wondering if you could give me the link to your ghosts? I have Gaster and Temmie but I'd like the others and its been a bit of a challenge trying to find them. It would, um, also be appreciated if you could link some other ghosts that your ghosts interact with... or just ones that you recommend. Thanks :-)

Ah yeah sure, I should just make a single post with them for the moment, why not. Some of them might have slipped through the cracks!

Hunter and Smoker were the first one I made, they have a lot of features like items and different modes and Charger, a third character they can also talk with and such. Also a cooking system! I’ve put a lot of work into them over the years.

Radic and Farnsworth are Pokemon OCs of mine. They’re a fairly lowkey ghost, they don’t have a relationship system or anything and you can’t hit them, just talk to them and pet them and listen to them talk to each other. I keep meaning to give them more dialogue at some point...

Gaster seems to have gotten around the most out of all of them, he has a lot of different features, hidden things, interactions, different paths you can go with him, and you can unlock the brothers as well over time. There’s a bunch of things I still want to add to him...

And there’s Temmie of course, haha.

I also did the coding for this Ralsei ghost, although the writing and art were done by cherry and riot, respectively. There’s also the Girl and Triangle ghost, but they’re basically a blank template for people to use to make their own ghosts, so I dunno if that counts.

I have a lot of ghost ideas, but they’re such massive projects that it’s hard to actually see one to completion. The fact I tend to overcomplicate them massively doesn’t help... who knows, maybe someday I’ll make that Edgar and Scriabin ghost I’ve been thinking about for years...

If you’re looking for other people’s ghosts, I try to reblog any ones I find to my ukagaka tag! They’re still very much a niche thing, but there’s been an uptick in English ghosts over the years, which pleases me greatly.

It’s the ninth anniversary, and here’s the update to celebrate! I was under a bit of a time crunch for this one so please forgive any odd or glitchy behavior...

Smoker now has an option in her menu for her to talk to other Ghosts! To have multiple ghosts running, right click her and go to "Call Ghost" to bring one up. They don't have a lot of dialogue for other ghosts at the moment, except for...

Quo's Jockey Ghost! Yes, the ladies are now all together and will all talk to each other! If you don't already have Jockey, you can pick up her .nar here.

Hunter and Smoker will talk to Jockey, and she'll talk to them in return! Once they've recognized each other as being present, they'll switch over to joint dialogue until you send one of them away. There is A LOT of different dialogue! In particular, there is totally different dialogue when Jockey speaks to them first instead of them speaking to Jockey first. There is also new dialogue when Charger is out, when they've been turned into eggplants, when they're in various sleeping configurations, and if they go into creepymode. I think, I didn't test creepymode too closely since it's really annoying to get out of.

When Jockey is keyed into them, she should notice when they fall asleep or get turned into eggplants, or when Charger leaves and comes. If she’s not reacting to those things happening, have her say something to Hunter and Smoker via her menu and she should begin registering it.

Checking Hunter and Smoker's anchor for Jockey will get new dialogue if she's out.

Dialogue wondering about where Jockey is got shuffled so it should only come up when she's not present.

Another quick reminder that this is still kind of new and glitchy so they may exhibit some odd behavior every now and then.

Oh man I’m super psyched about this update you guys. I was thinking about how cooking is usually my favorite part of a game (BotW, Stardew Valley...) and it occurred to me I could actually make my own cooking thing of sorts! And Smoker was perfect for it because she’s already into cooking, haha.

But anyway!

There is a new item: a cookbook! You don’t have to unlock it, it’s always there. If you select it, Smoker will explain to you how the system basically works. You can pick three ingredients from a list, and she'll tell you what those ingredients will make! If you make a successful recipe, it'll be stored in the recipe book for later reference! There are around 90 recipes cause I got... a bit carried away with this... I just love this kind of thing. Big thanks goes to Levidre for helping me figure out how to put this together! It took a while. Some recipes are pretty straightforward and some are pretty strange. Will anyone find them all? NEW CHALLENGE GO!

Charger now has an option in her menu where you can ask her about recipes and she'll give you some hints for some of the weirder ones.

Some minor adjustments with their update dialogue and tweaked one line in aitalk, very small.

Small updates for two ghosts, Gaster and Hunter and Smoker.

For the ladies...

Added a check for a certain name.

Split the aitalk file into two separate files for dialogue with and without Charger, since that file was ENORMOUS and it took ages to find stuff. Half of their dialogue involves Charger! I didn't know I'd written that much for her, haha.

Split off items and general config dialogue into their own files as well to try and make their menu file a bit smaller too.

Fixed a minor spacing issue with their update dialogue.

For Gaster...

Added some new name checks and broadened one of the older ones.

Gaster should now wake up properly when he has that nightmare while he's sleeping! This has always bugged me and figuring out how to fix it might have opened some new windows for things, we'll have to see.

Added some more sleeping dialogue, mostly for new flags like if Sans has fallen asleep, the familiarity counters, things like that.

I also updated the ghost walkthrough page with more info about clothes, surfacetable.txt in seriko coding, and a new page about -- and making a progress update bar.

It’s been a while! Sadly this isn’t really a content-based update, haha. It’s mostly backend stuff.

They now have a warning check if you’re going to punch them like Gaster does, since that was a big problem for a lot of people.

They also have the new streamlined update process that Gaster does, though you’ll only see it the next time they update. It doesn’t have the fancy ascii box though since I didn’t want to deal with character counting for them.

Most of this update is dealing with their shell. You might have noticed when you ran them that SSP would warn you that there were Errors or Bugs (for some people anyway). Hunter and Smoker were the first ghost I made and also the hands-on testing ground where I learned most everything I know about ghosts, and as such their files are often a weird jumbled mess of old spaghetti code and weird experiments and cut corners and that kind of thing. Their surfaces file is enormous since it took me a while to find out the more condensed method for surface coding I use now, so tackling it seemed really daunting. But I finally did sit down and do it though, it was very tedious and boring and took a long time. But it is done! And it’s better that I did do it anyway - I assumed the bugs were just minor code formatting hiccups, but there were actually several fairly large errors in there that I’m surprised I didn’t notice before (and I’m surprised that they didn’t impact their functioning at all). Anyway, the basic jist now is that Hunter and Smoker should be bug and error free! So running them now should be a nice clean job. But if you notice any odd poses or anything, let me know.

Their .nar should be up to date now, but the hsclean.zip is still way out of date, woop.
