From a young age, girls have been told to be conscious of their skirt flying up when playing outside. They have to be ladylike and modest. These values prevent girls from participating in physical activity.
Skorts are much easier to move around in and promote movement and exercise.
Girls still forced to wear dresses
A 2012 Australian study of 10-year-old schoolchildren showed that girls were more active when wearing their sports uniforms compared to when they were wearing their school dress.
