I know he’s an adult… but
I know what he’s doing is illegal… but
I know we shouldn’t be telling an almost 30 year old man who and how to be… but
Do you also go around saying “I’m not racist.. but” and then say something racist?
Idol is just a term they shouldn’t actually be idolized and people should live according to themselves and not how someone else lives. I’m sick of this kpop culture where you people think they have to be role models and examples and live their lives according to you. No wonder so many of them kill themselves. He isn’t daily binge drinking or snorting Coke lines off some prostitutes behind. Like calm down I know you’re young, not wise, and your brain hasn’t fully developed yet but stop being so grossly judgmental. Live however you want but you have no authority over the rest of us. Your beliefs and opinions are yours and yours alone!
Literally no rapport between « I’m not racist but » and « he’s an adult but ». Racism is objectifying and placing other people as inferiors for one’s benefits. Saying « he’s an adult but » does not hold the same strenght and significance. A proper comparision would be « I’m a not an expert but I learnt that… ». You can still be an adult and be wrong, do wrong.
That’s litteraly their job anon. They are performers and selling dreams to their audience, so that people would want to become the same as them. It’s the same logic as the wonyougism. She didn’t ask her fans to be unhealthy, yet her body, the kpop diet culture and beauty standards are, so by extension they become unhealthy too. Whether she asked it or not. She influences them, because they want to be like her. They litteraly influence, just like any celebrities and political figures, whether they want it or not. Once someone has power and influence, they do have an impact on others. The same way, fiction characters have an influence on people (superheros for ex). That’s litteraly the whole point of ✨ parasocial relationships ✨
Also, if you took the time to read instead of being defensive, the very first words are « a take but I ». Meaning it’s my opinion that I am sharing. It’s okay to not hold the same believes as me, I still have the right to express them. I didn’t send hate to Jungkook nor fans nor any idols. I did say and wrote « I don’t like when fans ». So I’m more talking about fans’ behaviors than idols, and using idols’ behavior as an example of fans’ passivity and participation in normalizing hurtful behaviors.
The same way any other artists who consumed drugs died because instead of telling them to be responsible, yall didn’t care and glorifyed it, to the point artists themselves tell you not to do it. Eminem on Lace it by Juice WRLD said « I ain’t lecturing you but man just be careful when you - roll it up lace it ». That’s the same logic. That means he cares enough to tell people not do it for their own good, or to think of their loved ones. But at the end, their actions are theirs. It’s like how it works with a therapist or any health professional. They give you guidlines, but you are free to listen or not. I am not forcing anything on him, I’m just stating facts. Y’all are participating in normalizing that, y’all are finding it cute and laughing at it. Knowing damn well the consequences of such behaviors and sometimes why it happens beyond cultural reasons. Until your idol or anyone you love dies or becomes disabled for life, y’all just laugh. You would not even find a random drunk man cute, but because it’s your idol it’s fine. Smh.
It’s the same way I see Clavicular (whom I hate) having an overdose in front of his « friends » doing nothing until the attack, because it’s normal to them to do drugs, and his audience just watches, encourages, does nothing and laugh at it. Whilst he’s influencing young boys into masculinism, doing drugs and hard looksmaxxing, because like idols, he has influence. It’s the same logic. Y’all love reacting too late or being compliant.
Better mourn than prevent. Right? They do what they want, but that does not mean fans should encourage, directly or indirectly such behaviors. You’ll be the first to be shocked and devastated when we’ll learn something concerning about their health when we’ve been knowning since the beginning.
