Issue # 2 Subs Open!
Hi everybody! I’ve been putting off posting for a long time because I wanted to have a well thought-out description, but since it’s so late, and since I’m on a little bit of a good mood high all of a sudden, here I am, winging it, and coming back to edit when I think of something else.
I’m officially opening submissions for issue #2, which will be The Color Issue. There is no limit on the number of submissions you can send in.
Basically, the theme is based on a prompt where you try to explain a color without saying the name of that color. The theme doesn’t apply so much to the submissions as it will to the magazine in general. I’m not looking for every Standalone submission to be something made with that prompt specifically in mind, and not even looking for every Standalone submission to be made with some specific “color concept” in mind.
In addition to Standalone submissions, you can now submit Response submissions in reply to any art from Issue #1! All Response submissions should be in participation with the current color theme.
NON-LITERARY SUBMISSIONS
It might be difficult to apply the theme to a standalone submission, but if you’ve done this kind of activity before, feel free to send it in as a standalone. You could also do a Response piece to something from Issue #1.
I am warning you now that submissions in purely black and/or white, will have a lower chance of being included than something with even the tiniest bit of color in the piece or its presentation. If you think this is silly because your piece is rad or because I’ve got color theory all wrong, feel free to open debate with me! This is all about collaboration, after all.
LITERARY SUBMISSIONS
Congratulations! It’ll most likely be easier to apply the theme to your submissions. For this reason, half of the submission spaces will be reserved for literary pieces. Tell your writer friends! I’m definitely going to want more literary submissions than I got last time.
~please submit any of the following:
• 2D art
• 3D art
• 4D art (yes, music you’ve written, videos, music videos, monologues, audio of any sort; have at it)
• mixed media
• short stories
• poetry (prose poetry, haikus, literally anything)
~ if you don’t think your art will be considered appropriate or actually “art”, please submit anyway! ~
Submissions will be open until mid-February 2018
All of my Response art will be made according to the theme.
