my pettiest issue with the update is that they updated the treasure icon to an svg while the gem one is still the original png. idk how it is on desktop but on mobile the difference is really visible to me

Taking a break from this blog for my mental health but I wanted to give my own 2 cents as someone who is disabled and currently on a break until my friends tell me certain flashing bugs are fixed
It isn't sucking staff's assholes to say people are being far too mean and reading everything they say in bad faith. Too many people are being assholes to staff, especially mousemod who, I cannot emphasize enough, is literally just a messenger, she didn't make the update, she did not code it, her job is talking to people for the rest of the staff, I'm also sure there's a lot of things she is being told to say and told not to say, as that's how community manager jobs work typically, she's just giving us the information she has, they gave her wrong information, shit happens unfortunately
It ALSO isn't being unnecessarily cruel to staff to point out the fact they made a pretty huge mistake by claiming the site was up to code when it wasn't, as well as the fact there are dangerous and harmful issues and bugs with the update! It was a flawed update, people are going to be upset, especially since the game punishes you for not logging in daily. And being told to take a break from the game during a FESTIVAL really sucks! That's MY fest! And I can't play! That sucks! I will be critical with staff for how things were done and how they played out, but I still understand they are people and people make mistakes. I do not believe any of what they did was malicious.
My ultimate opinion is this update really needed some time to cook, and they should have definitely hired a few dozen people to QA test this update before it launched, it being half finished/a live update would not have been as much of an issue if it spent a little longer cooking and some bigger bugs were squished before it launched, because it was launched in a state that made it unplayable for a LARGE portion of the player base.
Also to the people saying you can't make something accessible to everyone, while that is true, in this case, a HUGE portion of the playerbase is now being excluded, and there ARE ways to fix it to allow those people back in, which staff IS DOING, so I genuinely do not understand that argument floating around in thks case? Like it is possible to make the update accessible to everyone. Staff is doing that. A little bit at a time. Like they are in fact doing that. They are finding a middle ground so the community can all play together again!
The update came out in a Bad State. There's a lot of bad bugs and it wasn't up to code. I don't think it's a wrong statement to point that out. It wasn't really a good idea to release it yet. But that doesn't make staff bad people.
Sorry for the long ask, I wanted to get all my thoughts out one last time

No fucking way people are trying to organize a blackout over this. No fucking way.
STAFF IS RESPONDING TO OUR FEEDBACK. Save this kind of outburst for later down the line if they stop responding! Fuck!
.
oh my goodness gracious, aeq literally just confessed on the forums that they were wrong about having following wcag standards. look, i don't think staff's heads belong on pikes. i don't think they are bad people. but what is going on with the quality control? why have multiple updates gone out feeling so rushed? why do they seem to repeatedly struggle to learn from past mistakes? they're an independent company are they not? why do they act like they're under constant crunch time.
i'm happy seeing the fixes being made! it's very good they're actively listening to (constructive) feedback! but this also could have been prevented...

Ain't no way they did all... this, and Baldwin still uses that godawful item selector. Guys, Sophie is right there, you already did it, guys..
