ADIEU
four years later, RESREC is officially done. in 2020, transitioning out of tabula rasa, i basically barged into the rebranding process of my friends’ music/artist collective. up until that point, i did a short podcast series called TITLE NOT FINAL, which lasted about four episodes and was cut short during COVID-19. then i decided to basically whip up a whole logo in phonto and picsart in maybe an hour.
i have a deep affection for logo design, and my goal for the RESREC identity was to make something you can basically use as some kind of weird seal of approval. a sticker, maybe. it must’ve been like my first real foray into logo design, and i could not be more grateful.
i have my own thoughts on how RESREC was handled. nothing serious thankfully, or at least not that i know of. but in retrospect, i should’ve asked myself how long it could even stand on its own. i don’t think anyone involved did. too many ideas either evolved into better things or stayed as ideas, like a zine that sadly never came through. and i can’t even tell you how heartbreaking it was to never see lake atree come into fruition. we were past the days of tabula rasa, but there was nowhere else to go after that.
i’m still grateful to be a big part of RESREC. but i’m also grateful to be a big part against RESREC (in more ways than one). i hope everyone involved is already doing better without it because i always saw it as some sort of stepping stone for something greater, and it kind of already is. i’d argue the spirit of it lives on through house of friends, which i’m not a part of, but i have designed at least maybe one thing for them.
bless everyone who was involved, and bless everyone who stayed for the ride. i hope that diss track finally drops one day
