RESTisNOISE: Tweet Yoself— this Sunday!
Our last concert of the school year is this Sunday! Here's the press release: RESTisNOISE TO GIVE ITS FINAL CONCERT OF THE SEASON Eastman students present works by Messiaen, Berio, and more (Rochester, NY) April 29, 2013— To close out its ‘12-‘13 season, the contemporary music group known as RESTisNOISE will be giving a concert 6pm Sunday, May 5, in room 415 of the East Wing at the Eastman School of Music. RESTisNOISE, which is maintained by a small group of students at Eastman, is named for New Yorker music critic Alex Ross’s best-selling book The Rest is Noise, and is dedicated to the promotion and performance of any and all works written post-1900. The centerpiece of Sunday’s program will be Olivier Messiaen’s “Oiseaux exotiques”. Both a composer and ornithologist, Messiaen incorporated transcriptions of birdsong from all over the world into most of his works. Admission to this event is free.
