A fully realized Black mecca looks like freedom of emotion, allowing space for tears of all sorts, regular gatherings of Black people doing mundane things together, more communal rest, not needing to fight to exhaustion for freedom, Black land, pausing to enjoy the fruits of our ancestors' labor, and so much more. I imagine a life full of the joys, love, travel and deservance of my great grandmother, Gang Gang and all the women before me, but out in the open and including my chosen family. I imagine bringing my full self into each space and having her be nurtured, held, and fine-tuned.
