Restless AU
So a while ago, I mentioned something about a Restless AU, where all our heroes get weird, psychoanalytical dreams ala the Buffy episode from the end of season 4. Here are some ideas, I guess:
--> Playing up the light vs dark motif in Luka and Adrien’s names in Marinette’s dream. When Luka appears, the lighting is always perfect and Marinette can see him clearly. It’s more like a gentle glow. But with Adrien, the lighting is always either too bright, blinding her if she looks at him, or too dim, not able to see him even if she squints. At some point, there is a ball, and she knows she dances with Luka, but she’s not sure if her other dance was with Adrien or Chat Noir.
--> Adrien’s dream is similar to Xander’s, in that no matter where he goes or where he tries to escape to, he ends up back in his bedroom. Also, playing into his love for anime, everyone in his dream fits some sort of role in a slice of life comedy (Marinette is the class president, Chloe is his tsundere childhood friend, Nino is his chill, laidback bro, etc).
--> Alya’s dream is in black and white, with anything that could be considered gray or not fitting in the shade range, impossible for her to see.
--> Lila appears glamorous and bigger than life in both Nino and Alya’s dreams. In Chloe’s dream, she’s wearing a sheep costume and plays up a “damsel in distress” routine. In Adrien’s dream, she essentially acts like Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club. And in Marinette’s dream, she switches between her civilian form, Volpina and the forms she takes as Chameleon.
--> Nino’s dream is similar to Willow’s, but instead of taking a theatrical route, it’s Hollywood themed. No one gets their lines right or insists that the script is wrong. Lila is supposed to be playing the heroine of the movie ala Molly Ringwald. Adrien is her love interest but is clearly uncomfortable. Nino thinks he just needs more time with his lines.
--> Chloe’s dream as her follow her dad for “Bring Your Child to Work” day. Using her mayorial power, she attempts to rewrite her past, but can’t get the public to approve her choices. Adrien contacts her through a hologram, but can’t come to visit her right now. Marinette is always wearing business attire and is always serious. Ladybug is all smiles and waves, almost like a beauty queen.

Thank you! Oof, I wish it was a fanfic, the problem is that I would have to write it! I do want to, as I do have the whole outline, but will it ever happen? *Sigh* I really want to revisit that project, but I can’t make any promises. All I can say is that I will revisit it soon with a bit more Rhaenys, I’m not done with this AU :D
