I really like Watobu because their dynamic in UU just gives you so much insight on how Wemmbu reacts when someone doesn't immediately jump to take advantage of him when he's vulnerable.
A majority of the Zammbu prison P2 was Wemmbu basically trusting someone who's broken that fragile loyalty over and over, and when he's inevitably left alone again and starving — Wato comes along. Not to capture him like Clown had, not to beat him down even more and tell him he was weak like how Zam had, but to help him.
Wato consistently tries to know more about Wemmbu, and Wemmbu's response to it was avoidance.
A bit off topic but I've noticed a few people saying that Wato was doing too much, that he was roleplaying too much and that Wemmbu was just trying to escape, but like. You guys just completely missed the reason why Wemmbu was so detached from that conversation. Wemmbu's default response to any sort of vulnerability or intense emotion is to shut down, and when he can't pick himself back up after that and replace that numbness with anger or a sense for revenge then he just completely ignores it.
An example of Wemmbu not dealing with things is him refusing to go deeper into what exactly happened during Skyciv. He lets people make assumptions, he lets Loppezz think what she wants about why he left and didn't warn any of them because that would mean having to open up about what went down with Minemanner. He doesn't go into detail with it with Wato either, just briefly mentions it and changes the topic.
Wato can try to talk to Wemmbu. She can be as careful, as gentle and as reassuring with her words as she wants to be, but at the end of the day, Wemmbu just can't bring himself to do it
Also side note I've seen people saying that Wato was roleplaying while Wemmbu just wanted to solve the escape room and like dude. Wemmbu GAVE HER the script. She is following a SCRIPT. Don't diss my goat bro
