Visualize your goals
Have you ever bought a car or purchased something, and prior to making that purchase you hadn’t paid much attention to that thing, but once you bought that car or thing, you now see them everywhere?
This is a result of your Reticular Activating System (RAS), a specialized system in your brain that, your stimulated, causes alertness and awakening. Before your made your purchase you were not alerted to that type of car or thing that you bought. But once you made that purchase, that provided a stimulus to the RAS and it alerted you to all the other vehicles or products of similarity, hence you now see them everywhere because you are more aware of them.
This same principle can be applied to your goals or problems you are trying to solve.
It’s important to set goals for yourself, but more importantly, to visualize your goals. Write them down on a sticky note and post them where you can see them; on your bathroom mirror, at your desk, on your refrigerator, or the dash of your car. The more you see your goals, the more you will be aware of them and the opportunities that will present themselves to help you achieve your goals.
For problems you are trying to solve, write them down in the form of a question and let your subconscious mind go to work finding a solution. This will activate your reticular activating system and make you more aware of your surroundings. The answers will pop up when you sometimes least expect it. Because you are now more aware of the question you want answered, you will be more alerted to the answers as they present themselves.
If you want to make forward progress in your life, decide what you want for yourself and set those goals. If you want a solution to a problem, ask the questions. Visualize your goals and questions, write them down, and let your gifted mind work its magic. Then, keep your eyes open for the opportunities and solutions, and get ready for your success. You can do this!
