tell me everything you think about helios. all the headcanons.
That time gap between s2 and s3…so much time for things to happen. Suddenly, s3 hits and O is a total fucking boss on that horse. Absolute badass, right? How’d she get there? While it’s possible Lincoln taught her some things during the first two seasons, I find it highly unlikely given the short time frame those two seasons happened in and the fact that if that bitch could ride a horse before season 3, that bitch woulda been on a fucking horse, yo.
Nah, I think they came back to Camp Jaha and Lincoln was utilized for his Grounder knowledge. Who should we talk to? What can we trade? How can we work this land? Where’s the nearest water source? And while he gave that knowledge, sure, because Camp Jaha/Arkadia was his new home, he was also giving them ideas to ease the transition to living on the ground. When you gotta travel? You get a horse. So he taught O about them. Told her who would be safe to trade with. People like him, that would sympathize with people just wanting to try to live. Maybe Helios came of a nomad or another tribe, but I’d be willing to bet Linc told her about a trader from Trikru. Besides, O wasn’t outcast from there, Lincoln was.
Once O has Helios? You better believe Lincoln is teaching her errthing about horses. Showing her how to brush him, care for him, train him. I’m sure there were little pony-ride sessions around the interior of Arkadia while she got used to riding before he ventured outside the walls with her to watch O and Helios run free.
Beyond the initial? I think it’s O. She’s changed a lot since she walked off that drop ship. But…I still believe that girl that was fascinated by glowing butterflies is in there somewhere. Learning about this animal…she’d be fascinated. Want to know it all. And yet, she’d know it was too dangerous for Lincoln to venture too far given the kill order. Why does Helios come for O? Because when Linc told her she had to train Helios, she took that to heart. She didn’t know any different than the hands-on training Lincoln had shown her about things thus far. Shioot, given the fact that Lincoln was probably all, “this is how you fight,” “eat this…not that,” “this is how we heal with what we have on the ground…” O probably spent as much time with her horse as she did with Lincoln.
This is just rambling at this point, but O and Helios? They’re tight, yo. They look out for each other. That’s his girl, and he’s gotta watch out for her just like she takes care of him.
