I’ve seen desperate people who don’t know this end up in serious legal trouble, so I'd just like to make sure people know:

If you buy clothes or what have you at a discount store and return them at another store, for more money than you paid, that is illegal. They call it “return fraud”. And here’s the thing. If you do it a lot, and these corporate stores notice you’re doing it, they likely won’t just kick you out for doing it once; they’ll gather evidence, hand it over to the police, and have you arrested while you’re doing it, so they can charge you on multiple counts.

A lot of stores will do a similar thing with people who shoplift high-value items multiple times. They let you think nobody’s noticed, and then they have you arrested on multiple counts of shoplifting. I think it’s a really slimy way to handle things. But I just wanted you all to know.
