Cobb’s eyes narrowed as he leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms. “Sounds a lot to me like you’re pining, Din.”
“What?” Din asked, half-choking on his own air. Of all the things Cobb could have suggested, that topped the list of most absurd. “I can’t be pining, Cobb. We aren’t bound. Pining is for bonded mates. More so, pining is for people half my age.”
“Well that ain’t true, it just means it’s not as severe,” the alpha argued. “And pining is for people of all ages.” Looking Din up and down with his dark eyes, he sighed. “You miss him?” There was still a slight hint of jealousy there, even though it was obvious he hadn’t meant for it to come out.
Clenching his jaw, Din quickly sought out a droid again for water, mouth suddenly feeling quite dry. “Of course I miss him,” he answered, voice barely above a whisper, “But I knew what I was getting myself into. I’ve been through this before. I did this for eleven years with Kyren.”
