There were three things wrong with this situation:

One, Lucilius joined her on a day off of the Grandcypher. They came to roost in a small archipelago to resupply, as well as check out some issues that the townsfolk needed assistance with. On one of these patrols, far outside of the city's limits, someone tried to sneak up on the two. For what reason, she wasn't sure -- by the time she registered that there was someone following, the scene changed.

Two, her partner-in-crime was holding the man by the neck against a tree trunk. She was able to do a once-over, and noticed some imperial decorations as well as a blade that was now fallen to the ground. Who was he, and what did he want with her?

Three, he was in a 'generous' mood, and that's what frightened her the most.

Containing her own emotions at this moment, she pulled on the Astral's hand, trying to release the would-be thief.

"That's enough, Cilius. Let him go." Even underneath the demanding tone, the bit of fright is there. "I think this is enough." She gives another tug on his wrist, fingers resting part-way on the back of his hand as well.

You hear the Captain huff a little under her breath, expecting to be given yet another lecture on why the Astral shouldn’t be on board. But when you approached and wanted her to speak about him, she’s a little lost. Just talk about him? In what sense...? It leaves her in a daze for a few seconds until the thoughts begin to gather and mingle.

“He’s horrible. That’s pretty much it.” if that isn’t something anyone could see. She’s trying hard to push down the other emotions, not sure how you’d take it. Being involved with someone that’s the world’s enemy? How he almost destroyed everything that the two of you, and every other member of the crew, loved? Even the Archangels fought against him, and even Tessael did. 

But she fell for him. Greeted him aboard with an ultimatum of life or death and sealed her fate right there and then. If she would of seen it sooner, would she let him on board still?

You decide to wait until she’s had some alcohol in her to ask again, wanting her full opinion.

And by wait, you decide to take her down to the cabin and keep the drinks running, loosing count after a few hours of sitting and talking, taking your time with yours as Djeeta slams her down in comparison.

It’s at the end of those few hours until you re-ask.

“About Cilius? Didn’t you ask this earlier?” Hands move about - one coming to rest against her cheek while the other rests on the table. Everyone knows that she tends to be more open like this. Thinking on it for a while, she finally comes to speak.

“He’s terrible, but there’s a strange soft side to him. Not that he’d really show it to anyone. It takes a fair amount of prying form me to even get it. Even though I don’t agree with this methods, either, he’s an important man and ally. We could use what he knows to help us against, well, whatever comes our way. He’s also very warm....” 

Hold on a moment. Did she really just say that? She did and now there’s no way to take it back. Here’s to hoping that Lucilius didn’t hear her, or walk in during that conversation.

“Either way, he hasn’t changed at all during the past few years.”

That’s one way to get her to stop in her place. She let out a noise, pressed flush to the wood. The energy from the lances radiate, to the point it’s slightly uncomfortable to be this close to them. She struggles against the blades, hoping to be free of them with haste. It’s enough time, head being tilted down to notice white and black standing on brown. 

Her head’s forced up, no apology upon her face. “Put me down, Lucilius.” She bites back, resuming her attempt of escape. “What does my ‘place’ have anything to do with me wanting to give you a tap?” She’s genuinely curious. Did she catch him on an off day? Or did he really not like it?

‘What are you afraid of?’ -- words she doesn’t associate with him. Well, no, that’s a lie. She’s afraid, but not in the way that people expect. After coming to face him in the heat of battle with Sandalphon and the others, she thought that would be the end. Yet, here he is, upon the ship and says that he’s only here for ‘research’. So when did these feelings start? When did she become afraid of them? ... Or was she just afraid of getting too close, because their lifespans are different? Much different. To him, was she, and her love, just a petal on the wind of time? Would he remember after she was gone?

Leather nuzzles together as she rubs two fingers in absent thoughts. A visible head shake was given, and a smile comes to her face as well.

“I’m not afraid.“ Djeeta starts, with eyes looking elsewhere for a moment. Not at his face, but to his chest -- more specifically his heart, before it returns. “Not anymore.” The words dance off her tongue, not realizing the weight that bears on the words. How, in between the pauses, she laid herself bear. She shouldn’t -- he’s still an enemy -- and Sandalphon makes that clear quite often. So do the others. But she ... she can’t help it. 

“I was at first, but it takes a while to realize what could happen between an Astral and a Skydweller, mm?” It’s a bit of a riddle, but she told him. Who cares what happens in the future? Live in the present. It’s always her motto. 

And..

As the saying goes, “The heart wants what it wants.”
