harshest nights has four clans ; wolfclan, lynxclan, sealclan and minkclan.
i want each to feel separate, even though we're focusing on wolfclan right now. . . so i have been putting in a lot of work focusing on clan differences and ideologies, as well as culture.
one of the ways i have been doing that is ceremonies ; clan sayings ; and clan hierarchies.
here is a little snippet of the clan call of wolfclan :D + a little snippet of the scene i've been writing.
“Those clever and quick enough to serve their clan, gather beneath Clawhill for a clan meeting!” Elkstar called for the clan, yowl booming as it echoed across the camp.
Clan-cats rested within the sky-nests rose and yawned, teeth glinting underneath the bright sun. Elders’ bones creaked with their movement as they slipped from the moss den to sit nearby. Apprentices scrambled over each other in a mess of pelts — “Maybe it’s our challenges!” — Voidkit heard them meow passing-by. He peered his head out of the suffocating embrace of the nursery den, green eyes staring straight ahead at the mass of cats. He hadn’t seen this many until he was brought into camp a shaking, sobbing mess of a kit.
Hollowkit shoved past him, bounding a few pawleaps away, eyes catching his as she laughed. “Come on, come on!” She mewled, paws tapping the ground energetically. Voidkit took a deep breath, tail lashing as he slunk out of the nursery much like an elder would. They crept close enough to hear, but not close enough to be sent away by a warrior.
wolfclan values attributes of intelligence and agility, mostly because that is what makes them adapt and survive in their territory. therefore- it is not hunting that they would differentiate from, but the traits of cleverness/quickness.
they also have smaller camps than other clans. therefore, the elders/warriors share a den, and those who cannot fit sleep outside underneath the stars. (similar to windclan in canon).
