Though she wasn’t stoked about moving into the apartment building, Mena was happy she made the decision to do so. For her children’s happiness first and foremost, and because she couldn’t stand the thought of living away from Dante. Sure, they had their differences - some more apparent since their divorce - but despite their hardships there wasn’t anyone else who she cared for more beyond her children. He hadn’t just been her partner. He’d been her fortress and the man that she loved. A shoulder to cry on and an ear to annoy. Staring at her daughter then, soundlessly sleeping, brought back comfort Mena hadn’t felt in months. Mena turned to close the door quietly before approaching Dante’s room. “ They’re both down for the count. ” she said quietly and rested her face against his bedroom door, “ Care to entertain me with a beer? Maybe a game of chess? ”
