It’s become a habit, though one of his better ones if he’s honest with himself. Better he wander his way over to Adachi’s apartment when his head fills up with fog than lay in his room and stare at the ceiling. At least here he might get something done. He has to get the fog out. It’s easier, when he can get all his thoughts up on the wall, and he can’t very well do that at home.
Souji had stopped at Junes on the way over, as he usually did, so he only has one hand free when he gets to Adachi’s door. He still doesn’t knock. He never does. That’s too polite for them, too impersonal. And he wants Adachi to know just who’s waiting outside.
So he kicks the door twice, same spot as ever, the wood is starting to look abused just there. Shifting his bags in his arms, he digs his phone out of his pocket. It’s rare that Adachi opens the door instantly and Souji never kicks more than twice. In his head, it’s all very important, the back and forth of it, the natural push and pull, though he can’t help wondering if Adachi gives any of it so much as a second thought. It doesn’t really matter if he does. Probably better if he doesn’t. At least that way he might be certain one of them has their head screwed on right.
[text - killer]: I brought food.
[text - killer]: I had a thought about the case.
[text - killer]: You should really just give me a key to your apartment one of these days, Ada-chan.
He already has Adachi’s number, his trust, would a key really be that much more? It probably won’t happen, but it’s a thought.
