Not gonna lie I was a little scared after hitting the first drop in the river 🌊. The waters were rapid, and the boat didn’t feel like it would hold up. At one point our boat got stuck at the top of the drop, and we had to push all of our weight down on the front. Giant boulders stared me down, with no way to retreat. We wiggled our boat, freed it and took the rapids head on ⛑. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ At the very last moment our raft found an escape and we avoided the head on collision. That pretty much depicts what we would experience for the remainder of the ride, near misses at every corner. My friend would also fall out of the boat and wind up in the river. We managed to pull him back onboard before hitting another slope, and the adventure will never be forgotten. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ Only after we completed the trip did we realize that we traveled down the same river where a tragic accident occurred a few months ago. A group of friends came to Costa Rica to celebrate a bachelor party and their boats flipped over causing them to go under. The current dragged them all down river and took four of their lives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ Truly a tragic incident and it reminds me to be grateful for every minute I am alive. I am thankful to God that I got to experience this adventure. In a few days we will be back in the 🇺🇸 and we will begin the next chapter of our lives. I know it will be exciting and exhilarating in its own way. Life is what we make of it, and we are never ones to just sit back and observe.
