– ‘ OH, THANK YOU, CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, ’ PAIGE REMARKS, punctuating the statement with a roll of her eyes. technically, jackie is right ; she’s starting senior year and she should be on top of the WORLD, but she’s just been dumped by her older boyfriend and she only showed up to this particular party after alex invited her at work, presumably because paige kept whining about being pathetic. it’s become clear to paige pretty quickly how little she fits in with alex’s friends – they all seem really close, like they’ve known each other forever and, well, paige is the blonde cheerleader who made snide remarks about their economic class for the past three years. 

‘ i guess i’m just trying to get over the shock of seeing you all in a house and not down at the ravine sharing diseases, ’ she adds, though her disdain tonight is more of a defense mechanism, because she hates feeling like she doesn’t fit in. it just kind of slips out, especially when she’s out of her comfort zone. ‘ have you seen alex ? ’

“         i see.         “         ash colored brows curl upwards as umber eyes settle on the broken heel the other girl had peeled off her feet moments prior. 

“          my mom donates to the poor every few months and it’s almost that time again. can give you first pick if you want. should be better then whatever thrift store you got that god awful pair from.         “

“duality of man,” she counters, rolling her eyes so her distaste for jackie’s claim isn’t lost in the sentiment. for good measure she throws a kernel of popcorn from what’s leftover in their bucket from the movie. “whatever, yeah, i’m worried about you. you can be a real dumbass sometimes. i dunno why you don’t just let me hook you up with a job here.” thumb juts over her shoulder toward the concession stand. “all the free candy bars you want, mmm.”

[ CUP ]:           bringing both hands up to cup the receiver’s face, the sender draws them in closer to them in order to get a better look at their face. ( for her boi craig ) / @revoltoso​

“well?” craig hums, craning down to her level. “i have lip gloss on me?” par for the course these days, being how firmly he’s attached himself to jackie’s hip. as his eyes trail over her face, he starts to get the impression he’s not about to be less covered in her lip color. smile hints at the corners of his mouth and his hands wrap around he slim of her wrists, thumbs sweeping over skin. “at least tell me it’s my color.”

– ‘ I DON’T KNOW, MAYBE NOT, ’ PAIGE SNIFFS, hearing the tension in jackie’s voice. it’s not like the two are close – in fact, paige has been downright MEAN to jackie and her friends on multiple occasions ( not that jackie’s sharp wit hasn’t ricocheted right back, but that’s just to emphasize the point. they don’t get along. ) but right now, paige is too distressed to care – she just got a call back from terri’s dad, who reported that there’d been no change in the past twenty-four hours. terri wasn’t waking up any time soon. and now, paige is missing algebra class.

and paige feels terrible, this crushing weight on her chest like it’s her fault, if only she’d said something sooner –

she swallows thickly, a squeaky, mouse-like hiccup escaping her lips. she eyes jackie for another moment, a gentle, almost vulnerable look on her features. this day is starting to feel like an episode of the twilight zone. ‘ i don’t . . . god, why are you being so nice ? ’ paige asks, dabbing at the corners of her eyes.

[ downpour ] receiver finds sender out in the rain / @revoltoso​

– PAIGE’S PINK VINYL RAINCOAT IS TIED SECURELY AT HER WAIST, umbrella held high over her head. now that she’s ride-less, license-less, and potentially hopeless, she has to wait for dylan to pick her up from work. her only saving grace is looking cute, and even that is in danger in this humidity. 

still, at least she isn’t in as bad shape as that girl over there, no jacket, no umbrella, hair all wet and shiny and clothes totally – oh. she knows that girl.

‘ jackie ! ’  paige walks over with her umbrella, thinking she better get some major karma points for sharing. ‘ what are you doing out here ? you look like a drowned rat, no offense, i didn’t even recognize you – that’s a compliment, actually. do you have a ride ? ’
