Revolving… // Playtime Revenue
What’s better than seeing a band in their peak killing it and getting the admiration they deserve? Being there along the entire journey to that point and being able to revel upon reaching it. Upon hearing this debut full length from Playtime Revenue, I think that’s what I am going to see, and I am very excited.
Opener ‘An Austere Debut’ shows you what this band is all about in summary, fast, honest, raw and fun, finishing with a huge gang vocal line led by front man Shane Conard. Conard’sgritty vocals are a focal point throughout the debut, complimented beautifully by Aaron Shepherd’s more clean sounding leads, which resemble those of Transit.
Maybe the punk thing isn’t your thing, but acoustic jam ‘Concrete Planet’ makes Revolving… a little more appealing to more audiences along with the great ‘stuck-in-your-head melodies and gang vocal one liners that Conard seems to never run out of.
7/8 slices. Had to really fight to stop myself giving it an 8, but I feel like Playtime Revenue have a lot more to show us yet.
Top Songs: ‘Alright’, ‘Deducting Qualities’ and ‘An Austere Debut’.
FFO: Transit, Make Do and Mend and The Wonder Years.
