I think one of the things I really love about Scully is that there was no reason early on that she should get involved in the x-files and the conspiracy with Mulder. I mean Mulder had his sister but Scully joined the crusade in blind faith because she thought it was right. I think people feel there is a need to give every hero a traumatic back story to justify their heroism and that's all and good but maybe the lack of that specific justification is why Scully has such a special place in my heart.
