Just rewatched the Make A Man Out of You sequence in Mulan and something I’m kinda appreciating as an adult is that, while the sequence primarily focuses on Mulan of course, Ling, Yao, and Chien Po also progress into skilled soldiers. Doesn’t feel like enough emphasis is ever paid to the fact that they’re strong fighters by the end of the song, and none of them ever changed size or build; Chien Po is still round but he’s shown doing cartwheels across the river logs, Ling is still lean and thin but he successfully breaks some thick-ass stone block, they’re shown to be capable warriors regardless of their sizes. I just think that’s neat.
re-watching Pocahontas as an more informed, intelligent, historically-aware semi-adult is so upsetting. on one hand it's like BEAUTIFUL COLOURS AND ANIMATION AND MUSIC AND NOSTALGIA. on the other its like: Pocahontas: here, let me try and teach you the ways of my people whose land you've decided to claim as your own. and John Smith is like: Nothx like mine better.
Don't listen to that guy he's trying to lead you down the path of righteousness! I'm trying to lead you down the path that rocks!

I want more friends that are like Gargoyles in Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Guys can we please just nominate Esmeralda to be a Disney Princess. I know she's not one, but she's way better than any of them are.
