here are some more prompts, but this time for rex!!
ᥫ᭡. our last summer - ⋆.ɞ˚ what were your lives like before you and f/o met? would your lives be any different if you never met? is there any way your paths could have crossed at an earlier or later stage? or were you destined to meet at the time that you did?
ᥫ᭡. lay all your love on me - ⋆.ɞ˚ how do you and your f/o show your love for each other? do you prefer using your actions or words? what is your favourite way your f/o reminds you they love you, and vice versa?

Before they ever meet for the very first time is completely different from the “before they meet” in every other timeline. That initial meeting happens when Sol is still stumbling through life, weighed down by fear and grief and yet somehow still carrying an overwhelming, almost endless capacity for love. Then they meet Rex—and it’s love at first sight. The very first person they encounter from the Heliopause, and somehow it’s him.
In every lifetime after that, though, things change. Sol has already lived through everything over and over again. They know the exact date the Heliopause will land, the exact amount of time it will take to reach Rex from wherever they are. And even if it’s their hundredth, thousandth, millionth, or billionth time doing this, that love never dulls. It never lessens. They still have so, so much love to give—and if Rex happens to be at the center of that love in this lifetime? Then he’s just a very, very happy puppy <3
Their lives would absolutely be different if they never met—but for that to happen, Rex would basically have to… not exist at all. And even then, the ripple effect would be massive. Every character is so deeply intertwined with the world that Sol can’t isolate anything completely, no matter how hard they try to make a timeline revolve around just one chachter. If Rex is removed, everything shifts. The Heliopause changes. The people on it change—for better or worse—and that, in turn, affects Vertumna as well. Rex is such a social person at heart that his absence would leave a noticeable gap everywhere.
Technically, Sol can’t physically meet Rex before Mid Quiet of year 15, since that’s when the Heliopause arrives. But they can avoid talking to him for as long as they want… at least in theory. In practice, though, they never last that long. In every lifetime, they end up caving before the end of year 15—interacting with him, getting flustered, and inevitably drawn in. He’s just so cute. Sol genuinely can’t help themselves; they always end up flirting, even if that particular lifetime doesn’t lead to romance.
That said, I might play around with an alternate universe where Sol—probably after memorizing a ridiculous number of engineering manuals and befriending Congruence as a child—manages to secretly contact Rex while he’s still on the Heliopause. Maybe even Nomi-Nomi too (definitely not Vace, though; he would absolutely snitch).
Tencicnally yes, they were always meant to meet eachother in every timeline… but Sol’s entire thing is messing with said timeline. At that point, it becomes less about fate and more about intention. They were destined to meet once, and after that, Sol keeps bending everything just to make it happen again and again.
It kind of reminds me of that quote: “No, we’re not soulmates. This is not divine intervention. And this is most certainly not chance. I willed this. I knit the threads of fate myself until they spelled your name. I love you intentionally. I love you with every bit of conscience I was born with.” (I really love that quote—I might honestly put it somewhere on my blog.)
Rex’s love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation, and it shows in everything he does. He’s basically a puppy in human form—affectionate, enthusiastic, and completely unapologetic about it. He peppers Sol’s face in sloppy // wet kisses, wraps Sol up in hugs that either engulf them entirely or lift them off the ground to spins them around, and says “I love you” so often it practically becomes background noise. I could go on about it for hours honestly (but then this post would be to long)
Sol, on the other hand, has so much love to give that they kind of embody all five love languages at once. But more than anything, they tend to mirror their partner’s way of expressing love in each lifetime—so when they’re with Rex, it turns into puppy love x2.
They’re also both incredibly verbal about their feelings. Sol talks because it’s second nature to them—they’ve always been able to talk their way through anything: “I discovered at a very early age that if I talk long enough, I can make anything right or wrong. So either I’m God, or truth is relative.”
Rex, meanwhile, values communication as a core principle. Words matter to him, and he uses them intentionally. Still, his favorite way to remind Sol that he loves them is through physical affection (Cant kick those puppy genes man)—kisses, hugs, cuddling, playful roughhousing, all of it!
Sol’s way of loving, though, is a little different. For them, it’s about remembering. That’s such a huge part of who they are. They remember the things Rex told them in past lifetimes, the things he’s shared in the present, and everything he’ll say in the futures they haven’t reached yet. Their love is built on that accumulation—on holding onto every detail, every word, every moment, and carrying it forward forever and ever.
