Calling yourself butch is so euphoric because, for a lot of us, you spend your entire formative years being treated as the bottom rung of attractiveness. A waste of womanhood. Maybe even easy to abuse. You learn to be quiet, but at least reliable. You overcompensate. You are the butt of the joke, and you have accepted that.

Then you enter a lesbian space, and for the first time, you are desired. Celebrated. Hell, people even find you sexy. It's such an initial shock but it makes sense of why people feel so attached to being butch.

For the butches out there who want to go on T but are scared they won't find as much acceptance in the lesbian community... you're valid. And you totally should go on T. I understand the fear on the basis of "lesbians are into women" and while on a base level that is usually true, most sexual orientations are much deeper and more nuanced than that. There will be lesbians who lose interest or are even rude about it but they are NOT who you want to impress.

A lot of people can't operate in dating scenes as their full selves unless they go on HRT. Because what the person sees about you visually versus what you want them to be attracted to don't line up. There's misalignment, missed confidence, conflicting desires, all that jazz. Once you've started T you filter out all the people who are gonna be weird about it. And guess what. The hottest lesbians on planet earth are still gonna flock to you because they're not fucking terfs.
