not quite sure if this is what you were looking for, and i’ve always been a little shaky on jasper characterization (devon bostick does an amazing job giving him depth!) but i took a stab at it. posted below because it’s pretty short.
(also! this officially marks the end of my follows party; i’m sorry it’s dragged out so long lol)
In high school, most kids were splitting up based on theirso-called passions. Raven, Monty, and Clarke chose STEM fields — engineering, biochemistry,and medicine, respectively — while Miller chose theater and Clarke also took afew extra art classes; Bellamy and Jasper went for humanities, which meant historyor English electives.
No one was more surprised than Jasper, in all honesty, todiscover his aptitude for writing. The first day of school was a bit of aculture shock for him, being in classes without Monty cracking jokes at hisside; it was certainly at least as strange for the rest of their classmates tosee them apart. (They were still best friends, of course; you didn’t stop drawingbomb blueprints and building moonshine stills together just because you didn’thave matching class schedules anymore.)
And honestly? The year went by faster than expected. Despitetheir diverging primary interests, Jasper and Monty remained as close as ever, andthe rest of their group — the Delinquents with a capital D, as they’d dubbedthemselves after Miller came across the term in some play he was thinking aboutauditioning for — certainly didn’t suffer (much) for the change.
The theme of freshman English was cooperation andcollaboration, which meant that their final project would involve working withothers.
Normally, Jasper would’ve already had a ready-made team. ButBellamy was writing a mythology-based play; Clarke would create props and sets,with Raven’s help with sound and lighting, and Monty’s with special effects; Millerand a few friends would bring the whole thing to life. There wasn’t really roomfor Jasper in their masterpiece, though he was sure they would’ve somehow squeezedhim in if he’d asked.
Instead, he quietly asked around, and eventually wasintroduced to an arts student (her tentative future major was art history, butshe was also into music) who also needed a partner. They hit it off almost immediatelydespite both being somewhat shy, and their project was successful if not asshowy as the others’.
“We make a great team, huh?”
“Definitely.” Jasper grinned.
